B'deshi man living in India for 7 years held

Behrampore: A Bangladeshi man, who had been living illegally in India for over seven years and had obtained an Indian EPIC card and an Aadhaar card, was arrested in Murshidabad’s Lalgola on Monday.
Two persons who had helped the man, identified as Sohel Rana from Godagari in Rajshahi district of Bangladesh, were also arrested.
Sohel had managed to obtain an Aadhaar card by showing an address in Chennai as his workplace and listed his uncle and aunt, Abdul Rashid and Sefali Bibi of Atrashia village under Lalgola police station, as his father and mother. However, his actual parents, Saiful Islam and Julekha Bibi, are residents of Bangladesh. Sohel had married his aunt and uncle’s daughter, Selina Khatun, about seven years ago.
Saharul Molla of Dayanagar village, near the India-Bangladesh border adjacent to Jalangi police station, was arrested for allegedly helping Sohel cross the border. Cops also arrested Oliul Alam of Baligram village under Lalgola police station, who assisted him in changing the address on his Aadhaar card from Chennai to Lalgola using fake documents.
“We produced the trio before the Lalbag ACJM court, seeking five days of police remand. We are trying to determine whether more individuals are involved in the racket and if others have infiltrated the border,” a police officer said.
