Kolkata: A 25-year-old biker was hit by a heavy goods vehicle near CR Avenue around 10.20 pm on Monday. He was taken to a nearby hospital with multiple injuries, where he died around 2.30 am on Tuesday. Cops said the man was a resident of Tiljala. The police have also confiscated the vehicle and detained the driver.
In another accident around 9 am on Tuesday, a 60-year-old man, riding a scooter was hit by a private bus at Brabourne Road near Lyons Range crossing. Due to the impact he was flung off the vehicle and he was thrown on to the road, following which the bus ran over him. The senior citizen was taken to SSKM Hospital where he was declared brought dead. Cops managed to confiscate the bus but the driver escaped from the scene.
In another accident late on Saturday, a 32-year-old biker and two auto rickshaw passengers were injured when a light goods vehicle (LGV) lost control and hit the bike and the auto rickshaw. The accident occurred on EM Bypass near Ruby crossing. While the biker was admitted to a private hospital, the auto rickshaw passengers were discharged from hospital after treatment.
Also, on Gariahat Road near Golpark, a 29-year-old man was injured when an electric scooter hit him. He was admitted to a nearby hospital.
