Kolkata: bsf on Thursday handed over Alimur Rahman (40) to Bangladeshi authorities during a flag meeting in North Dinajpur. It was found that he had inadvertently crossed into Indian territory without any ulterior motive. Rahman was apprehended on Jan 14 close to the Indo-Bangladesh border,

Meanwhile, BSF North Bengal troops seized a total of 1,004 bottles of Phensedyl from border areas in South and North Dinajpur in two separate incidents on Jan 14 and 15. One Indian smuggler, Ahad Ali Mondol (19), was apprehended during the first operation in which 804 bottles were seized in South Dinajpur. In the second incident, a BSF jawan fired a warning shot in self-defense, dispersing smugglers.
