Kolkata: Services on the New Garia-bound line of the North-South Metro were briefly disrupted around 4.10pm on Sunday after a 47-year-old man fell on the tracks at Sovabazar station. The man was rescued after a power block on the line. Metro services along the downline remained suspended for 34 minutes, police said. “Services on the down line resumed at 4.45pm,” a Metro spokesperson said.
Cops said Anant Shaw, a BT Road resident, “somehow fell” before a Kavi Subhas-bound metro rake. He was taken to RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, where he is being treated. The Shampukur Police is investigating the case, police said. Shaw’s statement will be recorded.
Earlier in the day, Metro rakes were regulated or slowed down for a few minutes after a spark was detected on the tracks at Park Street Metro station around 1.30pm. “Services weren’t disrupted. But we had to take a power block for inspection to inspect,” the spokesperson said.
