KOLKATA: The Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) water supply department will suspend supply from Palta treatment plant after 9 am on Monday for repair, maintenance, and overhaul of the century-old treatment plant that caters to the water supply needs of nearly 65% ​​of the city’s population. Supply will be restored from 6am the next day, said a civic official.
According to a KMC water supply department official, no supply will be available from Tala tank on Monday (after 9 am) to the entire north and central Kolkata areas and large parts of south Kolkata.
“We will take up the installation and repair of higher diameter valves, electro-mechanical drives, high tension pumps, leakage repairing work on higher diameter pipelines, and various maintenance work at Palta waterworks,” said a civic official.
There will also be no supply in large areas of Bidhannagar and S Dum Dum Municipality.
