Kolkata: At least one person was injured when a portion of the parapet collapsed from the SAIL building located on JL Nehru Road on Sunday night. The victim, Ritesh Pandey (32), was admitted to Nightingale Hospital. Three vehicles parked below the parapet were also severely damaged, said cops from Shakespeare Sarani police station.
Pandey, who hails from Gorakhpur in UP, was inside one of the three parked cars, said cops. He was stated to be out of danger on Monday.
Police have registered a case and are collecting CCTV footage. They are also seeking the help of KMC in this probe. “The parapet portion that fell off measured 15 ft by 2 ft. We have asked the estate managers to explain if there was negligence on anyone’s part. We are waiting to see if the vehicle owners lodge a complaint,” said a senior officer.
