Rupesh Kumar, joint CP (crime & traffic).
Police are checking CCTV footage of the platform. Cops said they were investigating if the incident happened because of crowding on the platform, for which the youth might have been thrown off his balance while a train was entering the station at top speed.
But Metro Railway maintained it was a suicide attempt. Rakesh Kumar, CPRO, Metro Railway, said, “According to information available, the passenger jumped in front of an Up (Dum Dum-bound) Metro at Esplanade. Power was blocked to rescue the passenger. Normal services resumed at 4.42 pm.”
