Saudi Arabia Policy: Taking a big step, the Saudi Arabian government has given a grace period from 1 December 2024 to 29 January 2025 for foreign employees. During this time, employees who leave the job without permission can transfer their sponsorship online. For this, the Saudi Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development (MHRSD) has launched the Qiwa platform for foreign employees. This platform helps employees to legalize their status and get a new job.
Qiwa platform can obtain necessary certificates, which include salary certificate, experience certificate. The main objective of this initiative is to bring stability in the labor market. There is instability in the labor market due to employees leaving the job without permission. This initiative is an attempt to control it.
Objective of Saudi Arabian government
The aim of the Saudi Arabian government is to give a second chance to the employees. Employees who were already unable to follow Saudi rules are now getting an opportunity to improve their situation. One advantage of this is that trust will be restored between employers and employees. For this, the process has been made simple and transparent through digital platform.
How to take advantage of the grace period?
People working in Saudi Arabia can also take advantage of the grace period. For this they will have to do some work.
1. Log in to the Qiwa platform.
2. Request necessary documents (such as experience certificates).
3. Receive the certificate after confirmation by the employer.
4. Transfer sponsorship to new employer.
According to a report presented by Saudi Arabia, there was a 5-fold increase in the number of Indians coming for jobs in the Kingdom in the year 2022. 1,78,630 Indians went to Saudi for jobs in 2022.
