New Delhi. In the year 2002, the multi-starrer film ‘Kaante’ was released. Amitabh Bachchan was also a part of this film. ‘Kaante’ was directed by Sanjay Gupta. Recently the director shared the experience of his first meeting with Amitabh Bachchan. Sanjay Gupta told that Big B was not the first choice, he wanted to make a film with new actors and Naseeruddin Shah. But Sanjay Dutt suggested him to approach Amitabh Bachchan. When he reached Jalsa at Big Bhi’s house to narrate the story of ‘Kante’, he was surprised to see his wealth.

Sanjay Gupta told that he was at Sanjay Dutt’s house in Bandra, when the actor called Amitabh Bachchan and fixed a meeting to narrate the story of the film. He said, ‘Sanjay Dutt called Amitji and asked if I could narrate the story of the film and he fixed a meeting two days later at 11 am. I was very nervous, at 10:55 I reached outside Amitji’s house and two guards came running and said that they would park my car. Then they took me inside. I entered his compound and climbed the stairs to see black and white photographs of Amitabh Bachchan’s films and shoots. Then they took me to a very nicely decorated room. Where I sat on a sofa and was served breakfast.

Speakers worth Rs 50-60 lakh
He further said, ‘Suddenly the door opened from behind and a tall man (Amitabh Bachchan) wearing white pathani appeared. He took me to another room and said he would return in 5 minutes. I knew that Amitabh Bachchan has a lot of interest in high-tech sound systems, that is why his speakers and gramophones cost more than Rs 50-60 lakh. I saw that equipment. There was a mug on the desk, which contained 25 to 30 pens and all of them were Mont Blanc designer editions. Then he came and sat down and I started telling the story. He sat facing forward and I became a little nervous. Then I asked him myself if I could tell you the story in my style and he said yes.

Sanjay Gupta further said, ‘I had this thought in my mind that one day I would tell my grandchildren that I had narrated a story to Big B at his house. It took 30 minutes to tell the story and the next 20-25 seconds were the scariest moments of my life. There was no response and my heart was beating loudly. Then I asked him how he liked the story and he said he liked it very much. I couldn’t believe it. This is how our journey began.
