Trump Nominates Linda McMahon to End Us Education Department | World News

Us President Donald Trump on Tuesday reiterated that his goal for education secretary nominee Linda McMahon is to eliminate the department of education altogether.

The department of education was established in 1979 under President Jimmy Carter. Calls to eliminate it has been part of conservative policy discusations for decades. Former President Ronald Reagan also supported its removal.
The department currently has some 4,400 employers and a $ 79 billion annual budget.

Trump has argued that education decisions should be left to individual states.
