Violence on Hindus in Bangladesh: Now voices are being raised all over the world against the attacks on Hindus and other minorities in Bangladesh. US Congress leader Raja Krishnamurthy has expressed concern over the unrest in Bangladesh after the arrest of ISKCON priest Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari. He urged the interim government of Bangladesh to uphold human rights, guarantee legal protection and end attacks on Hindus.
‘Violence against Hindus is unacceptable’
“The ongoing violence against Hindus and others in Bangladesh is unacceptable and must end immediately,” he said. The unrest in Bangladesh intensified after a treason case was registered against Chinmoy Krishna Das for hoisting the saffron flag above the national flag of Bangladesh in Chittagong on 25 October.
After his arrest, there were many protests at different places in Bangladesh. The protest became so violent that there was a clash between Chinmoy Das’s followers and Bangladeshi officials outside the Chittagong Court, in which a lawyer died.
According to ISKCON Kolkata, Adipurush Shyam Das and Ranganath Das Brahmachari were detained on 29 November when they went to meet the detained Chinmoy Krishna Das. Radha Raman, vice president of the organization, also claimed that rioters vandalized the ISKCON center in Bangladesh during the unrest.
