US Donald Trump: Donald Trump has announced that former Senator David Perdue has accepted his appointment as US Ambassador to China. This decision comes immediately after Trump’s statement in which he had said that if China fails to stop fentanyl smuggling then America will impose additional tariffs on Chinese goods.
In his statement, Trump praised Perdue’s rich career and said that he has been the former CEO of a Fortune 500 company. He has 40 years of international business experience. He has also served in the US Senate.
Let us tell you that Perdue has worked in Asia, especially China and Singapore. Trump said that he will play an important role in building productive relations with China. “David will be instrumental in implementing my strategy, which includes maintaining peace in the region and establishing positive working relationships with China’s leaders,” he said.

Perdue served on the Armed Services Committee and the Foreign Relations Committee in the US Senate. Trump mentioned that his experience in these committees will help in strengthening diplomatic relations with China. Trump described Perdue as a “loyal supporter and friend” and expressed hope for his success in his new role.
Trump’s tariff strategy on China
Trump has recently indicated to increase pressure on China to stop fentanyl smuggling. He said that if China does not improve this, an additional 10% tariff will be imposed on Chinese imports. He said, “We will not hesitate to take any step for the security of America.”
Canada and Mexico also face threat of tariffs
Trump has also announced plans to impose a 25% tariff on imports from Canada and Mexico. The policy could strain relations with the Big Three trading partners and raise prices for American consumers.

A senior Canadian government official said that Trump recently spoke to Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. Issues like trade and border security were discussed in the conversation. Regarding the number of migrants at the Canada-US border, Trudeau clarified that it is much less than the US-Mexico border. The Canadian official said the discussions were cordial and constructive.
