House ethics committee report
A leaked draft report on house ethics committee investigation into former Representative Matt Gaetz (R-FL) details allegations of drug use, payments for sex, and sexual activity with a minor.
The 37-page document, obtained by Just the News, alleges Gaetz used drugs like cocaine and ecstasy, and paid multiple women for sex. The report also claims he engaged in sexual activity with a 17-year-old in the presence of others.
The report states: “From 2017 to 2020, Representative Gaetz made tens of thousands of dollars in payments to women that the Committee determined were likely in connection with sexual activity and/or drug use.”
While the report indicates evidence suggests Gaetz violated House rules and standards of conduct regarding prostitution, statutory rape, drug use, gifts, and obstruction of Congress, it also concludes he did not violate sex trafficking laws. The 17-year-old reportedly admitted she did not tell Gaetz her age, and he did not ask.
Gaetz had resigned from Congress after being nominated as attorney general, effectively ending the House panel’s jurisdiction to investigate him or publish the report.
