Iran Hijab Law: Iran is a country where governance is governed under Sharia law. There people are made to strictly follow these laws in public and personal life also. At the same time, women have been punished for not wearing hijab properly or not wearing it at all. Against which women have also demonstrated against hijab from time to time. In the year 2022, Mahsa Amini, an Iranian Kurdish woman, was arrested for breaking the hijab law. But there was huge protest after the death of Mahsa Amini in police custody. Due to which the Iranian administration was in a lot of trouble.
But recently, the country’s Parliament has passed a new hijab law, regarding which discussions have once again started in the world. Even the President of Iran himself has not said this is right.
What is Iran’s hijab law?,
Iran’s parliament has recently passed the new “Purity and Hijab” law. In the Iranian Parliament, 152 members voted in favor of this bill. Only 34 votes were received against it. Although the President himself had opposed this bill. But now under this new law, if any woman is found wearing inappropriate clothes in public places, then there is a provision of fourth degree punishment for her.
What is the difference between the old and new hijab law,
There is a provision for increase in punishment in the new hijab law implemented in Iran. Earlier, for violation of this law, the punishment for the guilty woman included imprisonment ranging from 10 days to 2 months and a fine ranging from 5 thousand to 5 lakh riyals (10 to 1 thousand rupees in Indian Rupees).
At the same time, under the newly passed Purity and Hijab Law, there is a provision of imprisonment of 5 to 10 years with fourth degree punishment for violation. At the same time, the fine has been increased to between 18 crore to 36 crore riyals (36 thousand to 75 thousand Indian rupees).
Strictness will increase under the new law
After this new law is passed in Iran, surveillance in the country will become stricter. Everywhere will be monitored through CCTV.
